Writing a book isn't an easy process. Now that your work is ready, you're keen to make sure your research is showcased in the best possible way.

Taylor & Francis has been supporting book authors since the early twentieth century and has a significant reputation in the academic book publishing industry. We publish over 7,000 new books each year, and key brands are Routledge and CRC Press, imprints that specialise in Humanities, Social Sciences, and STEM content. With a books backlist of around 145,000 titles, we serve scholars, authors, instructors and professional communities worldwide.

For authors currently writing a book and who need English language support, our Book Editing service offers you the opportunity to have your work reviewed by editing experts.

Based on the level of development your book needs, you can choose between two book editing options: Standard Book Editing (with a focus on language editing that gives the book a natural English tone and voice), or Consultative Book Editing (providing a more substantive and developmental approach).

Frequently asked questions

What file format should I submit for editing?

To facilitate book editing, the file(s) should be submitted in an editable file format, preferably Microsoft Word (doc or .docx). This format is preferred because it allows editors to easily make revisions using the Track Changes feature and add comments directly within the manuscript.

Can I combine multiple editing services in one order?

No. You can select only one Book Editing service per order. We offer two options—Standard Book Editing and Consultative Book Editing—each tailored to different editing needs. Standard Book Editing focuses on improving language, grammar, clarity, and consistency, while Consultative Book Editing includes additional developmental and structural feedback. Choose the service that best matches your manuscript's editing requirements.

What happens after I submit my manuscript for book editing?

Following submission, the manuscript is first reviewed and assigned to a qualified editor based on its subject area. The editor then improves the language and structure according to the selected level of editing. Once the editing process is complete, the finalized file is delivered back to the client.

How many rounds of revisions are included in the editing service?

The Standard service includes one round of editing with discounted options for extra revisions, while the Consultative service offers multiple rounds of editing free for one year, giving authors greater flexibility to refine their work.
